Anatriptic Alchemy is a team of instigators of progress and evolution in the profession of Massage Therapy. With over fifty combined years of experience in almost every environment that massage is offered, as well as having been formally trained in how to instruct massage and massage therapists, Xerlan and Christopher Deery offer classes and sessions to improve the profession of Massage Therapy. Based in southeastern Pennsylvania, they teach in a variety of locations – two local hospitals, as well as throughout the United States at conferences, private massage schools, and by contract to private groups. Soundly based in evidence-based, pragmatically appropriate, and research-informed techniques and approaches; classes have been meticulously developed to not only inform, but to allow the learner to embrace what they do know, and refine their understanding to produce more effective results.

Education

One way that professions advance is by demanding that those who would instruct have a comprehensive understanding, experience, and hands-on practice in the topics that they teach. There is an old saying that "those that cannot do, teach". Xerlan and Christopher have active practices in and outside of their offices. They practice what they preach.

Research

An important part of advancing a profession is reading, comprehending, and supporting research. Xerlan and Christopher have been supporters and contributors to the Massage Therapy Foundation, as well as the International Journal of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.
